چکیده

Survival data are often modelled by the Cox proportional hazards model, which assumes that covariate effects are constant over time. In recent years however, several new approaches have been suggested which allow covariate effects to vary with time. Non-proportional hazard functions, with covariate effects changing dynamically, can be fitted using penalised spline (P -spline) smoothing. By utilising the link between P -spline smoothing and generalised linear mixed models, the smoothing parameters steering the amount of smoothing can be selected. A hybrid routine, combining the mixed model approach with a classical Akaike criterion, is suggested. This approach is evaluated with simulations and applied to data from the West of Scotland Coronary Prevention Study. email: [email protected]

Change Point Estimation of the Stationary State in Auto Regressive Moving Average Models, Using Maximum Likelihood Estimation and Singular Value Decomposition-based Filtering

In this paper, for the first time, the subject of change point estimation has been utilized in the stationary state of auto regressive moving average (ARMA) (1, 1). In the monitoring phase, in case the features of the question pursue a time series, i.e., ARMA(1,1), on the basis of the maximum likelihood technique, an approach will be developed for the estimation of the stationary state’s change...

AN OPTIMUM APPROACH TOWARDS SEISMIC FRAGILITY FUNCTION OF STRUCTURES THROUGH METAHEURISTIC HARMONY SEARCH ALGORITHM

Vulnerability assessment of structures encounter many uncertainties like seismic excitations intensity and response of structures. The most common approach adopted to deal with these uncertainties is vulnerability assessment through fragility functions. Fragility functions exhibit the probability of exceeding a state namely performance-level as a function of seismic intensity. A common approach...

A smooth test in proportional hazard survival models using local partial likelihood fitting.

Proportional hazard models for survival data, even though popular and numerically handy, suffer from the restrictive assumption that covariate effects are constant over survival time. A number of tests have been proposed to check this assumption. This paper contributes to this area by employing local estimates allowing to fit hazard models in which covariate effects are smoothly varying with ti...

Estimation of Smooth Link Functions in Monotone Response Models

We deal with the estimation of smooth link functions in a class of conditionally parametric models, of the covariate–response type. Independent and identically distributed observations are available from the distribution of (Z, X), where Z is a real– valued covariate with some unknown distribution, and the response X conditional on Z is distributed according to the density p(·, ψ(Z)), where p(·...

Spatial Regression in the Presence of Misaligned data

In this paper, four approaches are presented to the problem of fitting a linear regression model in the presence of spatially misaligned data. These approaches are plug-in method‎, ‎simulation‎, ‎regression calibration and maximum likelihood‎. In the first two approaches‎, ‎with modeling the correlation between the explanatory variable, prediction of explanatory variable is determined at sites...
